(7/10) A dark and powerful tale of a white racist, a prison guard, who falls in love with the widow of a man he has executed. Gut-wrenching performances and an amazing tale suggesting how some good things can rise from the blackest and most upsetting of histories. Halle Berry cleared the best actress Oscar award effortlessly.
