Film Review of Coyote Ugly
Year: 2000 Reviewer: Chris Docker
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer who gave us Flashdance, Gone in 60 Seconds, Con Air and Dangerous Minds, this is entertainment that doesn't require you to engage too many brain cells to enjoy it (Is that bad??)
The story of a would-be songwriter who goes to New York to find success, it is mostly about the red-hot bar where she starts working out of necessity. As it has the familiar music-video formula it is especially disappointing that the soundtrack is not more memorable, but visually the movie delivers what it advertises and is a great feel-good movie, popcorn movie or date movie. There's plenty of New York adrenalin, gutsy females that will tantalize the guys and a male lead that's not bad looking for the ladies, plus a few wish-fulfilment themes to also appeal to the girls. Out and out fun.
