Film Review of Batoru rowaiaru

I had hoped this would be more than a vacuous version of Series 7: The Contenders, but all I got was a film where teenagers find new ways to kill each other. For me, it has the mentality of any slasher movie without the tension. Add to that the effort of reading subtitles and I think the hype about it being a cult movie is just a tad overplayed. Basic plot - schoolkids in Japan, in the near future, are more and more uncontrolled. The government, in desperation, passes the "BR" act that plumps a whole class, chosen at random by national lottery, on an island. Only one can get off and only if they manage to kill all the others. Duh . ..
